A USTA Pro Circuit Event Welcome to the 10th Annual 2012 USTA Oak River Rehab Challenger We at Sun Oaks Tennis and Fitness take great pride in announcing our tenth year on the USTA Pro Circuit. And what a great 10 years it has been! We have seen hundreds of aspiring, young tennis pros from all over the world travel to our beautiful city to compete for $25,000 in prize money each year. We have followed players rise through the ranks to become top ten players, competing on the international stage in all four of the Grand Slam tournaments. During our first eight years, the tournament was held in spring. In 2011, the tournament moved to September where we enjoy beautiful Indian summer days and evenings. Redding has always been a popular destination for the pros, due to the great climate and generous hospitality of everyone involved in putting on the week-long tournament. Our volunteers are the BEST! Each year, volunteers step forward, putting in countless hours driving players, housing players and officials, preparing food, hosting sponsor events, and countless other tasks. Let’s not forget our young players who volunteer as ball kids for the final weekend of play. They do a great job. We could not even begin to run a successful tournament without our many dedicated volunteers. I would like to especially thank our sponsors who have stepped forward to provide the necessary funds to support the tournament. Oak River Rehab, the north state’s premier skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, in its second year as title sponsor, has been instrumental in supporting the tournament and our community outreach programs. We have been able to bring tennis into the schools through assemblies and clinics during tournament week, offer on-site training for our junior players, and hosted wheelchair tennis clinics and exhibitions. With the support of the USTA, local businesses, and individual sponsors, we look forward to many more years of professional tennis in the Redding community.
